When I participated in the 100 days of happiness challenge last year, I didn’t post it here, but since I added day one to my last post, I guess I might as well keep updating the challenge here.
Today was DD’s last day of vacation before going back to school tomorrow. We had a great break, but I think she’s ready to go back to school. I needed to do some housecleaning today, but instead, in honor of the last day of vacation, we sort of sat on the couch and watched movies all day. Works for me. I love the 100 happy days challenge. It reminds me to look at the simple things around me to find my joy. It reminds me that happiness is a choice and that I am lucky enough to get to make that choice every single day. We decided that today was the day to get started on the quest for better health, too. My daughter had the idea of keeping a journal of progress. She wants to include photos of the healthy meals/snacks we prepare, the exercise we do, and keep track of what kind of role the diet and exercise changes make in our ADD symptoms and mood/anxiety levels. She had an appointment with her ADD doctor coming up, and I know he was going to suggest we up her medicines. BUT — I’m just now starting to see an improvement in her symptoms in the time that she has not had to go to her father’s for visitation, so I proposed we wait a month for the appointment, keep her on the current medicines, and document things like she suggested and see what kind of improvements we see in a month. Seems like a good plan to me.
So — here are my #100happydays for day 2, 3 and 4.
Day 2 – my peaceful, quiet yard makes me happy. I love the yellow leaves on this little tree!
Day 3 – coloring mandalas with my best girl. The green one is hers. Am going to frame it and put it in my kitchen.
And Day 4 – making a healthy soup for lunch and spending the day with my girl. Hmmm..I’m starting to see a theme here…my happy days all include a certain lovely middle schooler!! 🙂
